Stitching

CRANE AND CLOUDS (WHITE)—Basketweave the white portions of the crane and clouds using four (4) strands of Mandarin Floss M800.

BACKGROUND—Stitch the red background in Nobuko Stitch using four (4) strands of Needlepoint Inc. Silk 502. Compensate as necessary around the various other elements in the design. Consider using a laying tool to carefully lay the longer stitches in the Nobuko combination. (For a lighter coverage on the background consider using skip tent stitch, which will allow some of the painted canvas to show through. You might also consider using only three (3) strands of the NPI silk.)

CLOUDS AND CRANE (GOLD)—Basketweave the gold cloud outlines, the gold portions of the clouds at the bottom, and the gold portions of the crane using one (1) strand of Entice E310.

CRANE AND LINES (BLACK)—Basketweave the black portions of the crane and the black lines in four (4) strands Mandarin Floss M801.

HEM, COLLAR, AND CUFFS—Stitch the bottom hem, the collar, and the cuffs in Alicia’s Lace using one (1) strand of Entice E310. (Possible alternative stitches: Basketweave, Tramme, or Brickstitch.)

GOLD DOTS—Continental stitch the gold dots using one (1) strand of Entice E310. (Alternatively, choose a size 14/15 bead that matches the E310 and stitch bead each gold dot.)

WHITE DOTS—Continental stitch the white dots using (1) strand of Mandarin Floss M800. (Alternatively, choose a size 14/15 bead that matches the M800 and stitch bead each white dot.)
