Procedure
1 / Background
Using a fine blue permanent fabric marker (such as Zig Fabricolor), carefully color the sky behind the santa blue. Be careful not to color over the white portion of the Texas flag. Once the marker ink has dried, stitch the sky background in Entice E263 in skip tent stitch.
2 / Face
Basketweave the face using five strands of DMC XXX.
3 / Eyes
Continental stitch the eyes using Silk Lamé Braid SL01 with a (/) slant for the left eye and a (\) slant for the right eye.
4 / Hat
Stitch the hat using vertical brick stitch over two canvas threads (“baby brick”). Stitch the hat band in encroached gobelin stitch 2 over 1 using Rainbow Linen R483.
5 / Flag
Stitch the white portion of the flag in Nobuko stitch using 2 strands of Floche B5200. Stitch the star in alternating continental stitch using Crystal Braid CR01. Stitch the blue portion of the flag in Milanese variation using four strands of Splendor S857 for the triangles and one strand of Kreinik #12 018HL for the accents.
